We can define outsourcing as:

• A management solution where a defined part of company’s activity is performed by an outside agency
• A way of separating the labour and getting a specialist company to perform the production off site
• A business strategy which uses external agencies in order to realise company objectives

Tactical outsourcing - A management tool where you delegate various tasks outside the company in a short amount of time.

Strategic outsourcing - A management philosophy of developing the company over a long period. The company focuses on its primary activity. All other areas of activity are identified and entrusted to external agencies in line with long-term contracts.
